Why choose made to measure curtains?
Despite the popularity of mainstream ready-made curtains that are widely available, having a custom made to measure pair of curtains in your choice of fabric, size, shape and style will have a bigger impact in the room. With thousands of different fabrics available you’re guaranteed to find a style that perfectly fits your plan for the room rather than having to settle for the nearest fit. When you choose made to measure curtains you know that your curtains will fit the window perfectly which is especially important for extra large or unusually shaped windows.
It’s not just the size and design of your made to measure curtains that can be customised but also the lining and header, so you can have extra lining to keep the drafts or light out to help keep your home warm and give you an extra bit of dark in the mornings. You have complete control over your curtains so that you can make them the focal point of the room that will wow your guests.
How to measure your window for custom made curtains
Part of achieving that perfect, finished look with your made to measure curtains is making sure you measure correctly. As long as our team have the right measurements they can create a pair of beautiful curtains to your specifications.
Measuring Width: don’t measure the window unless you want wall to wall curtains, you should measure the total width of your track or pole (excluding finials). Allow for overlap of around 2.5cm for where the curtains will meet in the middle and overlap each other slightly.
Measuring Length: for curtains that fall just below your window sill then measure for them to sit 1.25cm above the sill. For curtains below the sill allow them to fall 15cm below the sill. Floor length curtains usually finish about 1.5cm from the floor, unless you want them to trail on the floor.
