Find out about why you should support your local high street here.

Gardiner Haskins has been an independent retailer in Cirencester for over 40 years. During that time we have seen massive changes in the Cirencester town. Businesses of all sizes have come and gone, making it even more important than ever to support our local High Street by shopping local. We are championing local businesses in Cirencester this Winter to promote our High Street and keep it thriving for years to come.

The big questions everyone is asking..

Why should I shop local?

What difference will it make?

We can tell you what difference it would make: if just 1 in 4 residents of Cirencester pledged to spend an extra £5 in a local business rather than online or further afield that would give local business a rise of £25,000. Read on to find out why this is important and the benefits for you personally as well as the High Street.

Keep Local Jobs

The more the High Street thrives the more jobs are created. Unfortunately, as shops close on the High Street this means an initial loss of jobs and more competition for people already looking for jobs.

Save Postage Costs

Postage can really bump the price up of your “bargain” online find. In Cirencester you can park at Beeches Car Park all day for just £2.50 which is cheaper than sending a 2nd class parcel! There is also some free parking available at the weekend at the Council Offices and St James’ Place. Customers of Gardiner Haskins can use our car park for free whilst in store.

Tailored Advice and Customer Service

When you shop online from big retailers you rarely get to talk to a real person and if you do, they are usually in a call centre and haven’t even seen the product you’re asking about. When you buy from a local shop or stall, they can discuss your needs with you, show you the item and explain all aftercare.

Quality Testing

There is nothing worse than receiving an item in the post that you’ve waited a week for, and the quality isn’t there or the colour on the screen is slightly off. When you buy from the High Street you can feel the fabric, see the item working and accurately match colours.

Support your Local High Street

The most important reason to Shop Local? To keep the choice of shopping local there. Unfortunately, smaller shops won’t survive without our support. To find out some of our favourite shops see our Shopping in Cirencester Guide here.
