Everything you need to know about how to buy a fitted bathroom

Buying a brand-new fitted bathroom can be daunting. There are a lot of aspects and features to think about as well as the tricky electrics and water piping, not to mention the range of choice that is out there. Here at Gardiner Haskins we will guide you through the process step-by-step dealing with the tricky bits and helping you through the decision making.

We believe that, in order to create a dream bathroom, we need to build a relationship and partnership with you. During your consultation periods we like to get to know the real you, find out what makes you tick and what your dream bathroom would look like. You will deal with the same designer from the initial consultation to the final fitting they will care for you from beginning to end. This way your bespoke fitted bathroom has a personal touch.

But first, read through this step-by-step guide, so you know what to expect…

Step one: Get inspired

This is the most crucial stage. It’s the start of your bathroom buying journey. This is the stage where you browse the internet, start your Pinterest board, look through brochures and visit showrooms. Then you decide what style, design and feel you prefer. Here is a list of things to think about and bring to the free consultation…

  • Style and feel – Think about what style and feel you prefer. Do you like modern or traditional bathrooms? Bare this in mind when you speak to your bathroom designer and consultant.
  • Elements – This is about what goes into a bathroom. What features and pieces of furniture do you need or would like? Do you need a shower, bath or a shower bath? What kind of sized sink or toilet do you need? Then there is taps, flooring, lighting etc. to consider. All these depend, largely, on the size of the room you’re refurbishing, which will alter the range of choices available to you.
  • Materials – Think about the materials you want these elements to be in. Wood, ceramics, tiles, wall panelling, glass, chrome etc. There is a huge range of materials open to you, so get creative.
  • Colour and finish – What colour scheme are you thinking of for your bathroom furniture? A moody anthracite grey or a bright and bold look? Gloss or matte?

Always bare in mind your budget. We will guide you through your options and create and build your dream bathroom that satisfies your needs, desires and budget.

We have a huge range of bathroom suites for you to browse in our Bristol based showroom so, come and visit to help you get inspired. If you have a few ideas about what you want visit our bathroom ranges page or view or our Pinterest page for the ultimate inspiration.

Get Inspired in Our Bathroom Showroom

Step two: Free planning and consultation

Once you have a broad idea of what style of bathroom you want, come and visit us in our brand-new showroom and meet one of our bathroom consultants and designers. At Gardiner Haskins we offer a free planning consultation. This is where we discuss your vision and ideas and we answer any questions you may have.

Tell us about your inspiration, ideas and needs. How do you want to use the space? As a functional, hard wearing washroom or as a haven of tranquillity and relaxation? This will help us design a functional, as well as, fashionable bathroom that you can use every day for what you need and want.

Our bathroom designers are specially trained and have years of experience in designing bathrooms. We pride ourselves in being one of Bristol’s leading independent bathroom specialists. Our designers and consults will journey with you from beginning to end, giving you the optimum service with that personal touch that you deserve.

Step three: Measuring service

Not every bathroom will require a home measure unless you’re looking to have specially fitted bathroom furniture such as storage units. If this is the case then we can offer a home visit measuring service conducted by our bathroom designers, so you don’t have to worry about this part of the process. You can also bring us your room measurements and we’ll use these to plan and design your bathroom.

Step four: Follow-up appointment

After your designer has created the initial design, we organise a follow-up meeting to show you what we’ve done. This is the part where you review the proposed design and fall in love with your new bathroom. You can also make any adjustments to help further craft your perfect bathroom.

We install the whole of your bathroom so you don't have to worry.

Step five: 5. Follow-up with the fitter

This is the stage where you meet your expert fitter to make sure everything will fit perfectly. If you’re having any doubts, you can still amend the design right up to this point. Check out the installation guide for more information.

Step six: Finalisation

Well done! You’ve reached the final stage towards creating your ideal bathroom. All that’s left to do it finalise the order and set a date for your fitting.
